Worm is an organization for avant-garde music and film. After being homeless for a couple of years, presenting their program in a host of other venues in Rotterdam, they recently found a suitable building; a 17th century derelict monument. The book is about their 6-year odyssey, leading up to settling in their new location in 2005 (for the interior they used only recycled material, and it is totally removable).
They wanted to release a book to record what they had done all these years, with a focus on the project in the ‘new’ VOC building.
The layout of the book features three parallel columns. First is the ‘freaklist’, meaning all the artists that Worm had perform in Rotterdam. Second column contains their program and project background information. The third column features inside anecdotes, like the crazy rules and regulations they had to go through, to inhabit a building that is on the Dutch national monument list. In all, the book is a great insight in a unique cultural organisation from Rotterdam.
