A major project I’ve been working on for the last couple of months is the Vrede van Utrecht site. Actually it’s not a site but a cluster of sites linked together in a portal structure. The technical base of the cluster is a wordpress μ installation which functionalities were modified by series of custom plug-ins that I wrote. To me, this site signifies a new approach to web-design that utilizes aspects of the web 2.0 phenomenon in terms of both usability and scalability. The Vrede van Utrecht is a cultural institution which organizes art festivals around the theme of war & peace in run-up to the celebration of the historical Treaty of Utrecht in 2013. The visual design was done by the Utrecht based design company Die Twee.
