Spoke Frank Black when we* asked about the pixies a couple of weeks back - well… not to us, sorry Frank! Here’s a gig to etch in your forehead people. Saunawest will play covers by legendary US indie band The Pixies in Rotown, Rotterdam.
JULY 29th: SAUNAWEST PLAYS THE PIXIES!
First up will be LoudQuietLoud, a docu about the band’s 2004 reunion. They asked befriended bands, well known for their love of the Pixies’ songs, to join them on this night. So watch out for members of Surface Noise, The Peppermint Solution, The Cuties, AC Berkheimer, Mala Vita and NRA (to name a few) to share the stage with them!
* actually it was Valo Valentino, Saunawest bassplayer.

For the brandnew Rotterdam record label TEAMrecords I’ve created the logo and website. They have loads of plans for their releases, and really want to create a platform for upcoming talent within all realms of electronic music. (mainly Techno, Electro and Minimal - thus forming the letter T.E.A.M). The logo will be the key element in upcoming releases, so Duplex will be involved in designing a template for those in the near future. The website is built with a Wordpress CMS, allowing growth, regular updates and easy connection with existing (music)web platforms.

Me and my girlfriend are in the USA now , roadtripping from Seattle to Los Angeles.
This is our first day of four in Seattle now, and been to (and on) the Spaceneedle (first photo), the hipster friendly area of Capitol Hill with its galleries and music-venues and to touristic attraction number 1, Pike Place Market (second photo).
If you like, you can track our route. Oh and Tom, the jetlag didn’t make us sleepless at all.
As you might have noticed on the list shown at the right bottom of this page, we are letting you in on our musical preferences via this wonderful application called last fm.

A major project I’ve been working on for the last couple of months is the Vrede van Utrecht site. Actually it’s not a site but a cluster of sites linked together in a portal structure. The technical base of the cluster is a wordpress μ installation which functionalities were modified by series of custom plug-ins that I wrote. To me, this site signifies a new approach to web-design that utilizes aspects of the web 2.0 phenomenon in terms of both usability and scalability. The Vrede van Utrecht is a cultural institution which organizes art festivals around the theme of war & peace in run-up to the celebration of the historical Treaty of Utrecht in 2013. The visual design was done by the Utrecht based design company Die Twee.
